Who is Jane Cameron?
Jane Cameron is a Melbourne-based, contemporary folk storyteller who blends folk, blues and jazz influences to create a sound that warms your bones and stories to soothe your heart. Drawing comparisons with the likes of Natalie Merchant, Janis Ian, Margret Roadknight and more, Jane’s insight, warmth and compassion shines a light on how we connect and create meaning as human beings.
Jane has played at venues and festivals throughout Australia and New Zealand since starting her career in Queensland with Brisbane-based duo thewhiskeyarchive in 2011. After moving to Melbourne, Jane released her debut solo album The Mercy of the Tide in 2015 and spent a busy few years touring the album and playing regular gigs around Melbourne and regional Victoria.
Jane returned to the studio in 2022 to record her latest album, Landlocked, with acclaimed record producer and engineer, Myles Mumford. Before its official release, songs from the album garnered acclaim with Jane nominated as a Roddy Read Memorial Song Writing Award Finalist at the 2022 Maldon Folk Festival. Landlocked was released online on 28 July 2023 and launched at the Wesley Anne in Northcote on 18 August 2023. Jane is already working on the next batch of songs to delight and beguile her fans.

I am so happy to have my album, Landlocked, out in the world and available on all your favourite streaming platforms! The launch of the album at the Wesley Anne in Northcote last year was magical. It was so lovely to have some of my favourite people sharing the stage with me (special shout out to my dear friend Kahiwa Sebire who flew over from Adelaide to sing with me!)
I had a blast launching Landlocked in Wellington, NZ too! I'm thrilled that my good friend Scott Roy who played with me there is coming to Melbourne for a visit and playing a gig with me on 10 May! Scott is an amazing songwriter and multi-instrumentalist - I hope you can join us for that night.
In the meantime, wherever you are in the world, I hope you and your loved ones are keeping well and listening to some good music!
